Agenda/Plenary Sessions

At this opening reception, participants will enjoy a taste of local youth performing arts as well as welcome messages from the conference organizers and an introduction to the framework of using Latino arts, cultural and heritage assets for community development by of the country’s leading voices on this issue.

La Comunidad and Main Streets participants will come together for a unique joint plenary during which distinguished Philadelphia leadership will welcome them to the city, representatives from the conferences will explore the commonalities between the two events, and a keynote speaker will address the themes of Entrepreneurship and Diversity in both Latino heritage development and in Main Streets development.

The creators of the Asset-Based Community Development Institute will introduce participants to its methods and its intersection with arts, culture, and heritage in the Latino community.

Youth from the Philadelphia area will have the opportunity to present their ideas on how arts, culture, and heritage can play a role in their lives and where they see opportunities to expand this role.

   

This stimulating panel will explore how to form linkages and collaborations with housing, community organizations, economic development, and cultural organizations for a more comprehensive approach to the livability of the community.
